Photoshop 7.0 faster than 6.0. More speed tests

OK, I've had a busy day, but got around to do one simple speed test, comparing Photoshop 7.0 beta 43 to Photoshop 6.0.

The test was done on a DP 800, with 256 MB RAM using OS 9.2.1 and OS 10.1.1:
New file (1000x1000pixx800dpi), filter clouds, then filter radial blur, amaunt 20, best:

Photoshop 6 (OS 9): 21 sec.
Photoshop 7 (OS 9): 10 sec.
Photoshop 7 (OS X): 10 sec.

No dif between OS 9 and OS X in PS 7, but huge dif form PS 6 to 7. Thought Quartz would help a bit, but this small little test IS mainly number crunching. I'll post more speed tests as I have the time. I'll try different filters, scaling, and other Photoshop stuff in the next days.

So where did you get your Beta copy? Is it available to the public or are you a specially selected Beta tester?

it's available to selected persons....

however, if u snoop around enough.....u can get a copy like I did 😛
 
oh yeah.....

those numbers are impressive....

while I do find it hard to believe 7 was twice as fast as 6 in that series of tests.....I'll look forward to running it on my TiBook..... 😉

The numbers aren't fake. I was pretty blown away myself. More numbers to follow...
