I'm having this ever so crazy behavior in Mavericks.

When I drag/drop a file, typically to the desktop, Mavericks suddenly decides to place the file icon in some strange location of the desktop.

Which means I have to hunt it down every time.

I've tried various settings of finder, but nothing seems to get the dropped file to stay where I dropped it.

Anyone faced this confusing feature of mavericks ?

I don't notice this behaviour. Just set the desktop options to "Sort By None". If it is set to Sort By Name, or Snap to Grid etc, it will go to an unpredictable location.

I agree this is a BUG, and point taken removing the sort options "snap to grid" will solve the issue.

But this is not ideal, to me snap to grid has always been place the icon nicely more-or-less where I point with the mouse.

Sometimes I wonder who does the testing of such visible interface items.
