Is anyone's MacBook Pro mid 2010 13 inch still kicking

My wife's (my old machine) is. No complaints, I put an SSD into it a while ago and that helped speed things up as well.

I have a mid 2009 13" MBP that is still kicking and I use it everyday like right now to type this. It still looks brand new except for some wear on space key.

I expect it to work for a long time.

I have an early 2008 MacBook Pro that's still running as well as it did out of the box, 6 years ago. If you take care of them, they'll last a very long time.

If you're amazed at the 2010 model still going, my old 2006 C2D MBP is still kicking at a friends house with Snow Leopard on it.

I had to get a new battery and stop taking my 09 to class, but it still works reasonably well. A little sluggish on Mavericks lately though.

Wife is using an early 2010 13" MBP and I'm using a mid-2010 15". No problems, no noticeable slowdowns and both are on Mavericks. Minimum of 9 hours of daily use for work.

I did replace my HDD to a hybrid drive since the drive was showing signs of failure. I saw no need to go SSD.

I still have a MacBook Aluminum (which let's be honest, was the first MBP 13") from Late 2008 that's still kicking with 4GB of RAM and a 7200 RPM HDD which I added about 1/2 years ago. It works perfectly fine as a bed-computer to browse the web and watch videos.

At the same time, I'm writing this post using my Late 2013 MBPr

My 2010 13" (now my daughter's) is still running fine. Only one issue, the trackpad seems to not see clicks to the right side of the pad; I could kick myself for not getting that one checked before the AppleCare ran out, but it still seemed to be working at the time.

Oooh, this thread makes my early 2011 feel nearly old but that is still in daily work usage my daughters White Macbook (2007?) is still in daily home usage too....

The 2009 MBP I had from work still works perfectly fine (although I gave it away two years ago). I hear that my old plastic Macbook which I have bought in 2007(?) and then sold to a fellow student still works fine. I am quite sure that my current retina MBP will also be just on in 3 or 4 years, but I am definitely asking my employer to give me a new model once it comes out.

Bought my 2010 13" MBP in April right after I finished high school, and I'm about to wrap up my senior year of college with it! It's running sort of sluggish nowadays, but it's kept up really well. It's survived an 8 foot drop off my lofted bed my freshman year (though I did have to replace the optical drive), a hard drive crash in winter 2012, and me accidentally spilling some soda onto the charging dock and USB ports (it's a miracle it survived).

I'll be sad to see this guy go! I'm going to be upgrading to a rMBP whenever it next updates!

My Mac Plus (1987) still works, no problems.

My 2008 Macbook still works too, despite a drop a few days ago. Part of the trackpad doesn't really work anymore (been that way for a few years), the line in stopped working, probably while still under Applecare. The jack easily falls out of the line out port. Otherwise, still an awesome machine. I still use it as my main computer.

Still have my 2010 13" MBP. It runs great. Have it on 9 hours a day next to my work computer to play music or go on the web. Only turn it off maybe once a month. Been doing that since I bought it in 2010 and it's been fantastic. I have 8 gb of ram in it and she still is as fast as day one. Best laptop I have ever had. I might upgrade next year when he 2015 13" rmbp comes out.

2010 13" MBP - mainly used at home for after-hours web browsing and light work. Have upgraded to 8gb and have recently installed Mavericks. I'm still rocking the standard 250gb HDD that came with it.

Of those who have upgraded to Mavericks, what is your battery life like?
I'm getting an indicated 6-7 hours with light work and web browsing.

Make absolutely sure your battery isn't swollen.

If it's swollen, replace it ASAP.

When my battery swelled, the only way I knew it was that the trackpad got wonkier and wonkier over time.

Back to the OP - 2008 MBP here, works great, went to 8GB RAM and a Samsung 830 SSD.

I've also added a 2013 MBP to the mix just to have a laptop in case the 2008 has an issue, many many times I'm not even sure which one I'm using.

My girlfriend still uses my 2008MBP.

I use a powermac G4 from 2001 as a media server. 4 years isn't all that long a lifetime for an Apple product.

Still using my 2010 13" MBP and like you, I upgraded to a 250GB SSD. Still running 4GB. Runs Mavericks just fine.

Had the battery replaced by Apple a few months ago though. The critical battery notification came up after around 500 cycles (according to Apple, its supposed to go at least 1000).

I want a new one, but there's no reason to buy one. Retina is nice, but not worth the price for me. Plus the retinas have no optical drive and aren't as easy to work on as this one.

My late 2009 unibody macbook is my only Mac, and I also have an iPad Mini. It is running very well, but I am going to sell it soon. I want to get a 2010 13" MBP.

I have a mid-2010 MacBook Pro 13" that runs BETTER THAN when it was new.

It has always run well, but when I put an SSD into it, and performance really perked up.

I can see at least 2 or 3 years or more use out of it.

Almost discouraging, because I can't justify the cost of a new one, when the old one continues to run so well!

I have a 2005 Powerbook still kicking.

To be honest, I have PC laptops from 2007 still going.

At the end of the day, if you buy a Mac or PC, but quality ones, they will last a long time.

I would be shocked if a 2010 MBP was not still working fine, unless it was used for heavy gaming, heat kills components quicker

This is so great to hear. I am new to MacBooks and am hoping to see a fair amount of longevity from the machine.

Late 2008 MBP still works perfectly. Though I seriously need to get a new HD.....some apps bounce for a longer than normal time and I get the beach ball more often. It doesn't affect usability much, I'm mostly worried about my HDD dying on me. 5 years is a long time for a spinning harddrive. I need to quit putting it off and just get an SSD already.

Spinning drives are only for mass storage for me now.
