I have a 2012 Mac Mini. It's Intel Core i5 w/ 2 Cores @2.5GHz, 4GB 1600MHz Ram, 500GB 5400 RPM Hard Drive. It's still on mountain lion. What can I do to make this computer a lot faster for light video work and some programming. I was thinking 16GB ram upgrade, 256GB SSD, and Mavericks update. Any other tips/suggestions for me?

That should do the trick. RAM/SSD is really the only user upgradable components in the mini.
