Hey all. I've been looking for an alternative to buying a FW800 Powered repeater since my MBA doesn't have enough power to get my Digital Back going. Unfortunately, the back itself can only be powered either off a battery or via the FW800 cable, and from what I've gathered it's only getting 7w when connected to the Mac vs the needed 12w. My question is if buying a hard drive like the one listed below, would allow me to have my camera pass-through the hard drive and run off of it's power if a DC 12w adaptor is connected :

I'm assuming the HD would already power via the BUS, and the additional 12w adaptor would power up the back; hopefully my mac would recognize it.

Any suggestions to remedy this dilemma and hopefully guide a purchasing decision?
