CAS latency etc...
example: DDR2 PC2-5300 • CL=5 • UNBUFFERED • NON-ECC • DDR2-667 • 1.8V • 128Meg x 64

Also, FYI, Crucial is selling RAM at a very good price that is compatible with the new iMac for $117/1GB module.

P.S. Here are instructions and precautions relating to memory upgrades for the iMac.

Crucial out of stock and prince increased to $130 (cheaper than the €148 / $179 they charge in Ireland)...

CL=5 seems very slow? Wonder if Apple's cas latency is as bad?

I agree, CAS5 isn't exactly performance quality; not what I would expect apple to use for their memory. All the more reason to find-out what type of memory they use :)

I checked the store too and can't get any in ireland yet. I'm going to wait for everything to be available and some more info on booting windows to come out before i convert over.

Also that sale is only on the american store, not the european one.

It could be due to exportation fees and the like.

Going back to the subject of CAS times...
OWC isn't showing the CAS latency of their modules.
DataMem.com's modules are CAS5, like crucial's.

more like 'exploitation' fees :D Are you charged VAT in the states?

CAS5, it's not looking good. Anyone with intel mac please pull out your apple slot and let us know if it has anything on it..

DDR-2 667 RAM is all CAS Latency 5 unless you pay a king's ransom.

DDR-2 533 is CL4
DDR-2 400 is CL4 or sometimes CL3

The chip foundries are not making chips that are fast enough to sustain lower latencies at 667 MHz. THis will probably change over time.

Yup, that is the big problem with DDR2, but it isn't too big of a deal with this chip. It should perform with those timing at a little less than DDR4200.

Does the Core Duo iMac have 1 RAM slot like the rev. C G5 model or has it got two again?

The new intel iMac has two DIMM slots located at the bottom of the unit behind a cover plate. Apple has documentation on their site with instructions on how to access the memory and exchange/add memory modules.

I Agree...

with AvaCam, I think this thread is perfectly valid, but perhaps could've been posted in addition to one of the previous threads (although I like it as a seperate thread). I'd like to know the specs of the RAM Apple's putting into the new Intel machines as well.
