I've installed OS X Server on my 2010 13" MacBook Pro and this is what I'd like to do:
  • Set up a Network User named "Photos"
  • Have that account store its Home folder on my MacBook's internal 1TB SSD
  • Log into this account from my 2011 11" MacBook Air with the 128GB SSD
  • Have everything stay on the MacBook Pro, not duplicated on the Air
  • Log into this account directly on the MacBook Pro itself too, when I want to work in the iPhoto library on the same machine
Is this possible? I understand I'll only be able to log in from one machine at a time, which is fine, it's not as if iPhoto would be happy with more than one person accessing its library at once anyway. But I'd like to access the exact same iPhoto setup from both the Air and the Pro.

I've tried to create a Network User in the Server application but all I see are "Local Only" and "None - Services Only" under the "Home Folder" option. Do I use either of those? And what do I need to do on the MacBook Air in order to have "Photos" show up as a account that can be logged into?

Also, both the 2010 13" MacBook Pro and the 2011 11" MacBook Air have FileVault enabled.
