EU to investigate Apple's tax affairs

Apple, Starbucks and Fiat are to be formally investigated by the European Commission in relation to tax arrangements with Ireland, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-27788238

A US Senate committee investigation revealed that Apple had been able to funnel profits into Irish subsidiaries or "ghost companies" that had no declared tax residency anywhere in the world, cutting billions from its tax bill but Apple has said that it had not had "any special tax deal with the Irish government".

I am just surprise that it has taken this long to get anything done.

This has been coming for some time, in the WTC in Amsterdam there are shell companies set up just for tax evasion. I have heard of estimatations of a least 3,000 major international companies who have a Nederlands office for tax purposes.
Two of rocks biggest names Rolling Stones & U2 both use tax constructions set up in the Netherlands, to pay less taxes in the rest of Europe.

This is how the EU should work, this problem can only be tackled if all 28 countries have the same laws.

The Netherlands government has always ducked the idea, and sided with the UK on matters of finance, which lead to the banking crisis. But the abuses have just got worse over the past few years that it no longer can be ignored.

Its about time a stop was put to this. Apple, Google, Starbucks, Amazon have been avoiding tax for years. Countries like Ireland and Holland have been complicit in helping them avoid taxes to the detriment of the rest of Europe.

It is important that these companies are treated the same in each country in Europe and not able to play one against the other.

It's tax planning based on the tax laws, complain about the ones writing the law rather than the companies using it
