Two Proud Gun Nuts Second-Amendment Each Other To Death In Road Rage Incident

I love good irony

Quote:
"Witnesses say that Pullum who had his wife and mother in the vehicle with him pulled into the parking lot of a car wash and Taylor who was at the time tailgating him followed him in. Both men exited their vehicles and began to argue as the argument escalated, Taylor pulled his gun and began to fire. Pullum, who was also carrying a gun, drew his and returned fire. Both men apparently died at the scene.

Pullums mother-in-law says that her son-in-law was protecting his family and that he was a “great person, a great family man and a great businessman.” He owned a service station in Ionia. Other details are vague and police say they are having difficulty piecing together what happened since both men are dead. They also said that both men had concealed carry permits and were legally carrying their weapons."

He wasn't tailgating, he was just short-sightedly trying to read the other guy's "Don't Tread On Me" bumper sticker.

Two people acting irresponsibly condemns the whole bunch? If you believe that, then here's two people to make examples of:

Funny, in the absence of any other information...I see two nuts.

A few more different viewpoints, and we have Roshomon.

Agreed we need more information. And I wasn't saying the nut was a gun nut. He was nuts in general. Tailgates in apparent road rage and when he gets in an argument, pulls his gun.

Agree...I don't give a crap about the whole gun argument. A colossal waste of time.

The good news is that no one else was injured or hurt.

The other good news is that there are now two less gun morons in the country.

/ . . . . or would that be morons with guns . . . . hmmm . . . . .

This to me is why I am glad we don't allow firearms to be worn in public.

With the numbers of CCP increasing, this type of shooting is only going to get worse.

One of them was a bad guy and the other a good guy right? If the family were truly good people they would've also drawn guns and outnumbered the bad guy and the good guy might've lived.

No one has asked the big question: were these guys "law-abiding"? That is all that matters.

Anyone who thinks that more people carrying won't lead to more such incidents is more than a little short-sighted.

They ceased to be law-abiding the moment they pulled the trigger.

They actually were always criminals.

They just hadn't committed their crime yet.

so two gun toters got into an argument and shot it out..........why should that be a surprise? More killings happen during arguments than any other specific circumstance

There is one big advantage a bunch of idiots getting into a knife fight has over idiots doing the same with guns.

...no stray bullets.

Unless they both hit their targets...no stray bullets then, either.

300 million (ish) in the states living in the "land of the free"

About 1.35 billion in china, living in a repressed society.....

5 dead in a knife fight in china....... tens of people dead in schools in the states, monthly.

What comparison are you trying to make exactly?

So much for "An armed society is a polite society". Shame the driver couldn't have just kept on driving instead of confronting the other idiot. Guess when you are packing you feel like you are invincible. What a tragic event.

I believe this Taylor guy had also lost his CHL due to DUI and was able to renew it years later. Originally he was charged with carrying a concealed weapon while intoxicated after getting pulled over for a DUI. This would have barred him from a CHL for life but instead they dropped the charge. They dropped the secondary charge because the gun was just sitting in the seat of his car.

http://www.mlive.com/news/grand-rapi...two_who_d.html

Also, I want to point out that this is nearly a year old incident.

This is the issue. There is an assumption that by virtue of having a permit, the individual is more "responsible". But by basically allowing everyone to carry, you are going to have the same arguments that have always existed, but now instead of fists, they will pull their guns. This is what love of guns for self defense has wrought.

This is enough for me to see that this Taylor chap is the crazy one. Tailgating someone, THEN following him into a parking, THEN pulling a gun and shooting.

I ask this of a responsible gun owner (I don't own a gun) here, although I can guess what the answer would be. If someone pulled a gun and started shooting you, would you shoot back? I should has hail would.

There might have been 3 dead bodies if Pullum (and a nut on the lam) had not returned fire.
