Apple will look to launch the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 on Friday, September 19, according to a new report from Chinese web portal Tencent (Google Translate, via GforGames) citing inside sources. The news comes after German carrier Deutsche Telekom was reported to be informing customers of a similar release date for the device.

The report also notes that Apple will launch 32GB and 64GB capacities of the phone for 5,288 yuan ($846) and 6,288 yuan ($1008), indicating that Apple may launch the iPhone 6 without a 16GB model. Notably, 5,288 yuan is the current price for the 16GB iPhone 5s in China, while the 32GB iPhone 5s is listed at 6,088 yuan.

A September launch would be consistent with the past two iPhone launches, as Apple also typically launches new products on a Friday. A report from Bloomberg earlier this week also claimed that Apple may launch the larger 5.5-inch version of the iPhone 6 and the 4.7-inch version simultaneously, with previous reports indicating that issues with battery and display technology would hold up the larger device's launch.

In addition to a larger display, the iPhone 6 is expected to feature a thinner design, a faster A8 processor, and more. The iPhone 6 is also expected to feature an improved camera, with the larger 5.5-inch version exclusively utilizing optical image stabilization and the smaller device featuring an advanced lens module.

Perhaps a rumoured $100 premium is not a real premium, but the evidence of 5.5'' model staying on current prices, and 4.7'' being $100 cheaper?

And I would need 128Gb model of 5.5'', thank you very much ;)

Very interested to see the price-points of the iPhone 6 and iWatch.

I'm guessing a combined £1000, basically.

I registered just to ask this:

Why do you need a mobile phone with 128GB of space? I got 16GB and im not getting over 12GB in total.
2-3GB Spotify, then tons of photos, and games.

Some people do. Lots of music, lots of videos. And lots of apps. It's not unusual for iOS apps to be larger than 2GB these days. Also, videos these days are taking up more storage due higher quality. Plus there's always the element of 'better safe than sorry'.

The iWork apps that come with the phone, if you choose to accept -- that's already 4GB or so before you've even started. 16GB is pathetic in 2014 and 32GB should be the absolute minimum. Plus it's not like it's costing Apple much -- component difference for Apple between 16-32GB isn't more than a couple of dollars.

There are loads of other reasons as well for 128GB that I can't think of off the top of my head; I'm sure another few MR members will help me out :)

It's way past time that the base capacity goes to 32 GB. The component cost of the additional 16 GB is a couple of bucks at most.

That's the same as what it costs currently outside the US.

Edit: Even worse, it's relatively cheap. The 16 GB model starts at $950 in Europe.

24.6GB Photos & Camera
23.2GB Music

Not much room for everything else. Currently only 76MB free.

Good reasons. I will add or highlight that my main reason is to have enough space to capture photos and videos while on a trip without my Mac. Also to load videos and movies to watch when inside an airplane for hours.

You know the, there's an app for that, phrase? Well some people want an app for everything, and those people need a place to put them.

I'm also surprised, but I assume it's people with lots and lots of offline content, especially dozens and dozens of full length films (100 GB / 4 GB = 25 feature length films at once, i.e. 50 hours)... I need 15 GB for thousands of songs via Spotify (can keep playlists offline at my choice), 110 apps, movies via Netflix, all sorts of TV streaming.

The reason Apple don't support these users is because they're too few to design a product for. I wonder how well a wireless SSD would work here instead + iOS support. That way, these users could get 256 GB or 512 GB cheap, which might be even better for them? Maybe some are asking for the wrong feature?

I have about 20GB free space on my 64GB iPhone, but with a larger display, the more likely I'd be to view and edit documents on it. For example, my presentations are often 500MB or larger, and that adds up. So, while not everyone needs 128GB, it's not unreasonable for some people.

128 GB: sign me up for a new phone. No 128 GB: I'll keep my iphone 5. Just can't get excited over the usual - thinner, faster processor, better camera. My phone is thin enough. My processor is fast enough. I have a good camera when I care about IQ. If I want a bigger screen, I use my IPad Air. Come on Apple. Not everyone puts everything in the cloud.

Its funny I first had a iPhone 3G with 8Gb and I thought how could I ever need more.
Then I got a iPhone 4S 16Gb and I thought the same thing, but at some point my iPhone was full all the time.
Had the something with iPhone 5 16GB.
So going to 32GB is very nice.
