Nokia Lumia 930 available in the US for $699.99

Looks like you can get the Nokia Lumia 930 in the US through Expansys USA is for $699.99. This is the same phone as the Nokia Icon which is exclusive to Verizon.

Nokia Lumia Icon and 930 are almost the same except that the former runs on the latest Windows Phone 8 as its operating system, and is available exclusively from Verizon. Spec-wise, they are same and features a 5-inch 1080p display with a quad-core 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 chipset on board. There's 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, along with a 20MP camera for photography enthusiasts.

Does that have all the bands for AT&T LTE? I'm tempted, just wish it wasn't so chunky.

It looks like it supports 4G/LTE on AT&T

From what I've read AT&T's main LTE band is 17. They also use 2 and 4 in select markets.

I read a little more about this phone and it doesnt seem to support LTE on ATT which is a bummer.

I hope ATT releases some sort of Windows Phone flagship soon.

Either a successor to the 1020 or the 1525.

I am due for an upgrade in September and thinking of trying WP or going back to iOS.

Yep, this looks like the international version and therefore no 'Americas' LTE band 4. You'd still get HSPA speeds, but no LTE. I think a few people might buy this and be pissed when the find out there is no LTE on GSM networks.

Yea it seems that WP don't hold their value that well but thats a good thing for me in this case.

I am thinking of buying no contract going forward versus the NEXT plan at ATT if I can get good phones under $400 or so.

This is my plan too.

No more 2 year contracts for me. Bought a G2 32GB for 350 and now I'm free to find better deals with other carriers and such.

From now on I think I'm gonna buy last year flagships for under 400.

Paying 699$ for a WP phone is too much IMO. That platform isn't worth that much money.

With Lumia Windows Phones and iPhones, buying last years model isn't such a big deal (spec wise), because the software and hardware are purpose built. I bought a Lumia 925 on T-Mobile for $150 (which I think is around 110) and it is a very, very smooth experience, even though it is running a dual core snapdragon S4 Pro processor. One of my favorite phones actually.

I have heard it is very "dumbed down" and not as fancy but it is screaming fast because it is so flat.

I am attempting to buy a WP off contract to take it for a test drive but I dont want their bottom of the barrel one either to sour the experience.

I am currently on the NEXT plan at ATT with my Note 3 so looking for something way cheaper off contract if I can find a deal like Lloyd mentioned.

I dont want to spend too much though.

You can buy a 1520 for about 360 here on amazon now, when it was 650 on release in Feb.

You can buy a 1020 for around 350

Iphones and Windows Phones are extremely capable using dual-core CPU's. Graphics are still good even at less than 340ppi on smaller 4.5" to 3.99" phones. Of course, a phone like the Icon/930 or 1520 with HD 1080p screens and quad core CPU's are better, but my older 925 is still a great phone.

From my experience and investigation, WP8 is highly efficient and tightly coded.

I picked up a Lumia 520 for $50 a while ago to experience with WP8. The 520 is the bottom of the barrel (relatively speaking) but I think it is a high quality handset. (quality defined by the fit n finish of the hardware and smooth performance and battery life, not the specs)

I am extremely impressed with battery life of this thing. My iPhone 4 (running iOS 5.1.1) still has amazing battery life but the 520 far exceeds that.

I'm so impressed that I'm looking to buy the newest Lumia that supports a microSD card.

Having the micro SD card is a killer feature on WP, because you can load apps onto it. Having the 16gb Lumia 1520 makes no difference after I popped a 64gb SD card in and loaded all my video's, music, docs and large sized games (Asphalt 8 at 1.8gb) and still have 40gb of internal/external storage available. And it only cost me $35 extra to have an 80gb phone. If it was Apple, it would have cost $200 or more.

This is good to know as I was going to test on a device but didnt want to go on a lower end if it was as bad as I was expecting to ruin the WP experiment.

I am looking for something that will run how it is going to look on 8.1 though and not sure that model has the capability.

I've already run the 8.1 Developer's preview on the 520... performance is like greased lightning. I suspect that the golden code runs as well if not better. But if you want to spend more for a higher end WP phone, go for it, I don't think you'll be disappointed with the performance.

AT&T will be selling the 635 as a prepaid no-contract phone for $99. Granted it isn't a high end phone, but it is better than the 520. It only has 512mb of RAM like the 520, so a few apps (mostly high end games) won't be compatible and it only has 8gb of onboard storage, but that doesn't matter when you throw in a 32, 64 or yes even a 128gb SD card (yes the 635 is rated to use a 128gb SD card). Best part is, the 635 comes standard with WP 8.1 and the Lumia Cyan firmware.

All for $99. It may be $50 more than a 520, but I think it would be worth it.

I was reading up on that and some of the cons were the lack of the dedicated camera button and something else. I can't remember now.

Seems like a heck of a deal though for that phone and considering how positive the 520 has been praised as a budget device I may give it a go.
