My computer collection (mostly for Macs) 73 total computers!

I just typed out a list of all the computers in my collection! I still added my two non-collection computers and random accessories and gaming systems. Everything with an asterisk is still owned by me but isn't a part of my computer collection. I put this thread in PowerPC Macs because I have a ton of them. God knows how I am able to store 73 total computers...

Nice! I want a MacBook Air 11-inch once they become cheap and "obsolete". It's the closest thing to a Mac netbook since the 12-inch PowerBook G4.

Imagine telling the average person on the street in 1969 that in his lifetime people would own 70+ computers, each of which thousands of times faster than the computers used to go to the moon, and most of those will be so inexpensive people practically give them away.

Your house must be big and/or your parents very nice to you.

I wish my mother had allowed me to store over 70 Computers in our house, when I was 16. (Well ok, they weren't obsolete at the time, so all I would have been able to collect for cheap might have been Mac Se's or something or cheap, old, dated, ugly looking Pentium PCs

Haha well I don't feel as bad about my collection now! I updated my inventory a few weeks ago to account for a new MDD and when the final count came in, I was at 43 Macs.

This last iBook was pretty much it for me. If I want any more, I'm going to have to get rid of some others.

Once the wife starts mentioning how many you have, while implying (but not actually saying) that you already have too many, you've hit the limit.

There are seven Macs in the front room, eight if my wife brings her PowerBook out. Compared to the numbers quoted here that's nothing, but it's certainly about four too many for her.

I'm not counting the iMac G3 in the dining room, the PM6500 and 7200 in the garage or the Mac IIci in the garage.

Or the two PCs in the garage.

Oh, it's already been mentioned at home, but there are only 5 Macs and 1 Hack in our house.
3 laptops for me, 1 for my wife, and an office iMac each.

So, why do I need 3 laptops?

C64 with floppy drive (x2) - Need a new keyboard on that one.
Apple IIe with mono monitor and floppy drive.

Thanks! I thought I had around 40, but an E-waste run bumped that up, and other random things I got. I store all 11 iMac G3s and other computers in a closet in the basement, and those Windows PC towers are stored upstairs in a closet. I have my 512k and Newton on display, and a few others are in random areas. I keep my 80s portable computers in yet another closet. It is a lot of computers... I had a hard time trying to sell some of the XP Windows machines that I fixed up. Most of these computers are sitting, but I do use my iMac G5, one of my iBook G4s, and my PowerMac G4 MDD as my three main computers. (my MacBook Pro is currently being used by my brother)

Nice! I almost got an Apple II+ with some 3rd party monitor, but I had trouble getting a picture on the screen at the store... then I heard a noise and smoke started pouring out of the monitor. I decided to just forget it xD Too bad... it had the box too.

We have lots of space... I may leave mine tucked away somewhere while I am in college and perhaps sell some stuff. I will find an area to keep these if you know who doesn't want to see them around. xD It's a serious hobby but it's just a hobby. In fact, the career I want has NOTHING to do with computers.

I have lots of storage space. My mom realizes how passionate I am about computers, but I am sure she isn't too happy about it all. However, she understands that it's my hobby and that I am for sure going to pursue college and a good career. I don't wish I live alone in the basement amongst my computers, hahah. xD

Yeah, I am missing a Dalmation, Sage, Snow, and both Strawberry iMacs. I don't necessarily plan to fill in the gaps.

Sounds like my collection is pud compared to the collections you guys have. Yet, my wife still complains. She just doesn't understand...

Well I've been buying them for many years now and one at a time as they came up. I've never done a bulk haul, and it's made it so I don't have many duplicates at all. Over the last 6 or so years, I've been doing more Portables than desktop machines too, so that helps keep the space take-up to minimum. I've also got several in use at my bowling center and in my tiny computer shop across the street, so I can get maximum usage from them. That is really the hardest part, and keeping the batteries in the portables cycled so they don't go flat just sitting for months/years on end.

LOL! Space isn't my problem. I could easily rack up far more than I have and very comfortably place them where I wanted themif I were single.

My wife and I just have two different opinions about the priority my hobbies should have.

She never seems to buy my argument that my Mac collection is the equivalent to the loads and loads of stuff she's got in these two collections of hers.

Many people think that old computers are trash and should BE trashed. It saddens me that many rare/vintage computers get mixed in with trash and get shipped off to be dismantled and "recycled".
