Will be a freshman this year, and looking to buy a new laptop for school. I currently have a mid 2013 13" Macbook pro base. Its been a great laptop but it can't keep up anymore. So I have determined that I defiantly want a 15" Retina with 16GB ram and 512GB of storage. I also figure because I won't be buying a laptop for a long time, I should splurge for the 1TB model, unless someone can convince me otherwise. I have narrowed it down to three different options.

All prices are with edu discount.

#1 Mid-2014 $2,929.00
2.8GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
16GB 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM
1TB PCIe-based Flash Storage
Intel Iris Pro Graphics and NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M with 2GB of GDDR5 memory

#2 Late-2013 (clearance from Apple) $2829.00
2.6GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
16GB 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM
1TB PCIe-based Flash Storage
Intel Iris Pro Graphics and NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M with 2GB of GDDR5 memory

# Mid-2014 $2,749.00
2.5GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
16GB 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM
1TB PCIe-based Flash Storage
Intel Iris Pro Graphics and NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M with 2GB of GDDR5 memory

Any replies are greatly appreciated!

What do you need to do with the system? A 1 year old laptop will have 80% of the per core performance of the newst line of haswell's.

The only real benefit you will get is 2 extra cores which are only truely useful if you are doing parallel processing or running VMs, and the faster graphics.
