Hey fellas,

I previously posted about my MBPR earlier after it got it's lid bent. It's 100% functional so the damage is only cosmetic. How much do you think I could sell it for? Just a ballpark guess I'd assume since no one can truly predict if the right buyer will be out there. I look forward to the help. Thanks

Sam

Value is only what somebody will pay for something.

No idea what somebody would pay for it, or what your market is.

Or how much ram, or what size or hard drive or age.

Look in my signature...........

So, we are supposed to figure out the mac in your signature is the one you are trying to sell?

With that, I am guessing $500 sight unseen. If you and a suitable buyer can meet and see the device, maybe $800.

LOL I know I asked for opinions but anyone who knows the slightest knows you'll get more than $500. Gazelle.com alone is offering me $600.

MBPR's on eBay with broken screens are selling for $1200

1) Don't be a jerk when people are trying to help you.

2) You already seem to know what the Ebay market value is. Sell it there.

I would not give you a $1.

It has a bent lid. It might be trashed on the way out.

You want to make me guess about the specs.

Take the online quote you got - and hope they HONOR it.

Since making this thread I've been looking around quite a bit. According to your comments, you're either trolling, extremely salty, or you don't know much about pricing on MacBooks.

Sorry but the other guy is the only one being the jerk here. The OP is justified in his responses.

$2200 without tax. Mid 2012

Damn. That's a massive loss, could you try and and get at least 1200 dollars outta the guy?

I'm gonna try. I posted on Craigslist last night and had a $1000 offer by the AM so I bet I could get $1200 or so in the next few weeks given that the right person finds the ad. If I sell it I'll be ordering one of the new Crystalwell MBPR's with my student discount so I'd be dropping a grand.

Don't forget its also 2yrs old as well as the damage. As someone said, its only worth what someone will pay.

For some reason I was thinking it was a early 2013 model, sorry.

Yeah, I think you should certainly expect higher, regardless of the age( although it is still kinda new)

Is it bent inwards or outwards? I ask because if it effect the way the laptop closes the value does go down further. Is the glass shattered or cracked in anyway? This also brings down the value.

Assuming the very worst, I'd say $500-$600.

The very best, $1000-$1200.

You have to remember that your computer is not only cosmetically damaged but also 2 years old.

Also, BTW, Gazelle is saying $100 if you machine in your sig is the machine you are looking to get rid of. It also depends on the damage (a picture would help).

Fair Condition: Has moderate to heavy physical defects, or minor functional defects. Pays $550 as of 8/8/14.

Broken: Does not power on, has multiple functional defects, or has severe physical damage. Pays $100 as of 8/8/14.

I've spoken with gazelle and they offered $550. The lid is bent outwards so it all
Closes still. Glass is flawless.

If the bend isn't too bad, I see no reason why you couldn't get $1000-$1200 for it.

When I had the display for my Retina replaced due to ghosting (at the time, same exact model as yours) it was $1000. It was covered under AppleCare since I was under the 1 year warranty and it was a manufactures defect. I'd say sell it, and get the extra $1100 together to get the current TOL model. I currently have the last 2013 model (2.3, 512, 16, discreet GPU) and this thing is a screamer! Its the best Intel Mac portable I have had.

I agree. The damage really isn't that bad. I'm just extremely OCD/anal when it comes to my devices and vehicles. With my student discount I can get a loaded current gen MBPR for $2250. So id be dropping about 1100-1200 for it if I sold mine for $1200. Not bad...

Yeah I'd go for it! You'll get a better machine for around that cost of the repair.

Good luck!

Life-lesson: The value of something is set by how much someone will pay, not by how much you need them to pay. Unfortunately.
