Instead of purchasing an Airport Extreme card for my Power Mac G5, I instead bought a small usb wifi chip, which was manufactured by realtek and uses its core technologies. I have noticed an issue of late, where my Wi-fi speed will be extremely slow (measuring with activity monitor). Normally, while buffering a YouTube video, I will see speeds of 1MB+ per second. Now, it seems that I cap out at about 50 KB/s, and will additionally hear the data transfer through my speakers. Has anyone experienced this before, or have any suggestions?

Thanks, and it is a June '04 model for reference.

Oddly enough, the issue as to wireless speed seems to fix itself after sleeping the machine but the crackling still exists.

Onto a new thread /s
