Question is there a way I can show the date on a picture from the default software when I download pictures from my camera? I have the setting turned on in the camera but when I email out the photos I need it to show on the image.

What's the camera? If your shooting RAW it will be in the metadata.

FujiFilm A170
Its saving as a JPG

The easiest way is to have a camera that "date stamps" the image for you, but from looking at the manual for your camera, it does not have that feature. None of the standard Mac apps like iPhoto will add a date stamp. There are some third party packages like BatchPhoto that will do it. There is also a free command line utility called Imagemagick that will do this.
