The graphics card (soldered onto the logic board as I understand it) of my Macbook Pro 2011 has just gone down. As I need to be up and running as soon as possible with another computer - while I try to get this fixed - I went out and purchased a Lacie Rugged Thunderbolt drive, replaced the disk with my SSD from my Macbook Pro and tried to boot up a borrowed Macbook Air (2011) with it but it hung on the Apple logo.
I tried it again on someone else's Retina (that I can't borrow for any duration) and it hung this time on the login screen. I then tried it again on someone else's Macbook Pro 2011 and it worked fine (so it's not a problem with the Lacie).
I assume it's a problem with my version of OSX (10.9.2) not having some specific drivers for the Macbook Air or something but have no idea where to go from here.
Any ideas anyone?
