I don't want contracts anymore..
I have AT&T now and my contract is up in a few days. Thinking about finding am monthly contract carrier or may stay with AT&T and use their go phone plan.

May still keep my iPhone 5 for a while longer or go for the 6..
How do you unlock it?

What you just described is a phone contract. If you buy the iPhone unlocked from Apple, it'll be full price (roughly what you'd pay over the course of your contract with AT&T for example), and you can get a SIM only plan from someone.

I bought my iPhone 5 unlocked and SIM free, and used a credit card to pay it off interest free over the course of a year. It meant I was on a 1 year SIM only plan with an unlocked iPhone, with the costs not being more than a 2 year contract with the phone subsidised.
