Old dock spacer

I hope this helps. Not sure if what you want is the invisible spacer between dock icons or the divider at the end of the dock, near the trash can?

The following is for invisible spacers between icons:

Open "Terminal" and copy the following:

defaults write com.apple.dock persistent-apps -array-add '{tile-data={}; tile-type="spacer-tile";}'

Press enter/return

Repeat the above for additional spacers. When finished type the following:

killall Dock

Press enter and then drag the invisible spacers to desired place. To remove them simply drag off the dock.

I have just done this myself (in Snow Leopard) and it works, however I wonder if anyone knows how to get a smaller spacer, say half the size?
