I made a neat new app that lets you send animated GIFs and animated emojis from right inside iMessage. It's going to require iOS 8 since that's the first version that will allow custom system-wide keyboards. I tried it out in WhatsApp but I guess they don't support animated GIFs.
Anyway, without further ado, here's a quick video I made to showcase Gifmoji's features a bit:
