I have a 2013 model and I never get near 9 hours. When I had the 13 inch Air, I was always able to get the advertised battery life but with the pro, I never get close. To answer your question, I am guessing just light Safari browsing and word processing would get you close to 9.

I get easily between 9-10 hours with my 2013 rmbpro ...
