Just wondering if anyone's played with the native Music app on iOS 8 yet, and if they could detail any modifications they notice from iOS 7.

Nothing of worth.

Here's what's new:

Left swipe to delete album.
Can add music to a playlist from another playlist.
Playlists no longer show album art, only shows once you go into the actual Playlist.
Rectangular shaped album art no longer shows white background on lockscreen; wallpaper shown inside
iTunes Radio now shows how many skips you have left.

And lyrics text got larger and bolder
it means it shows less lines than before
maybe they optimized it for the larger iPhone 6 screen :(

That's something, at least. Always nice to see Apple return functionality that they used to offer in the past

Do you remember the iOS 6 music app how much better it was with lyrics?

I miss those days.

It doesn't work perfectly, (iTunes Match for instance) and it's old, but Lagu is a music app that replicates the iOS 6 version. iPhone only.

Edit: no longer works with iOS 8.

Still no Album list view. When I browse an artist with 10 albums and want to play their first album, I have to scroll all the way down. Before ios 8,7, we could tap on artist, then scroll their albums and then to songs.

Unfortunately Lagu doesn't work on iOS8. It worked on iOS7.

I've got it on my phone and the app launches but the music will not play :(

I e-mailed the dev last week requesting an update but have not had a reply. Since the last update was July 2013 I'm not holding my breath.

That was true for the iPhone. But the iPad didn't have lyrics at all in iOS6, which was inexcusable given the extra screen space - at least that came back in iOS7.

Damn, I liked that app.

Furthermore. I've found that the now-playing-list resets itself annoyingly fast, which means you have to start albums or playlists again if you've opened other apps playing sound in the meantime.

Hi Everyone,

I missed my iOS8 release target, but I have been working on another 3rd party music app that addresses most of the concerns listed in this thread. It's called Cesium, and it is going in to Beta shortly. Check it out!

Cheers,
Mike
