DVDs not working on ibook 12"

not sure if this is posted in the correct place, and if not i apologise. i have a 12" ibook, just over a year old. it loads and recognises cd's fine, but just keeps spitting out dvds..it is supposed to play dvds, i checked in system profiler.

does anyone know if this is a software problem, or do i have to replace the drive??

If it's only a year old I doubt it was the drive. Have you made any software updates, changed the region coding, added DVD software? Tried reinstalling the OS?
