Only HP was approached for a bid, excluding Dell and Apple? That's pretty interesting. It sounds as if someone was redeeming a favour.

How is it a bid if you only go to one seller?

One company in the "bid"! Seems like a very irresponsible way to take care of the tax payer's money!

That would be like letting Halliburton and other Bush/Cheney pals get no-bid contracts to rebuild New Orleans and Iraq, while local companies who need the leg up aren't even allowed to bid on the projects.

Surely that could never happen

If you've never been to Boulder, Colorado, you wouldn't udnerstand. We here in Colorado refer to it as "The Independant Republic of Boulder." Quite fitting as all the yuppies and hippies live there, along with the college kids.

Quite sad that the kdis will ahve to put up with ifnerior systems. For being as rich of a city, you'd think they'd put more money toward this thing, or at least, give it more than one company to the bid.

heh

What cracks me up is all the comparisons to the whole Halliburton thing...Boulder's like one of the most liberal cities in America.
