Can I hook up my 30" cinemas to one of the new black trash cans? suppose I need some sort of DVI to TB adapter?

You have six ports, Im sure you can run six but dont quote me on that.
I can test at work with three easily (we have five but two are attached to another room).

The old mini display is the same shape as thunderbolt so yes it works on it.
Just cant go backwards e.g. thunderbolt peripheral into mini display port.

So you run 3 30" cinema's on your nMP? -- just wasn't sure if the AMD card could handle the combined res of all three

Ok, that makes sense. I thought the mini-display port was slightly diff to TB port. Thanks for clearing that up.

im pretty sure you can run more than 2 since they tout it can do 3 4K displays.

Im using two Cinema 30s on a single bus now and so far so good :)

Do you mean on a single Thunderbolt port?

Sorry I meant to say two Thunderbolt ports that share the same bus.
The six on the nMP are paired off.
Bus 1 - Top Left and Mid Left
Bus 2 - Top Right and Mid Right
Bus 3 - Bottom Left and Right

At the moment I have two Cinemas on Bus 1, Sonnet Echo Express with RED ROCKET on Bus 2 and both GRAID Studio 8TB and Black Magic UltraStudio 4K on Bus 3.

Ah ok. Thanks.

Plugging 3x 30" cinemas will also take up 3x USB ports too

The GPU must be pretty powerful. I have to run 2x GPUs to run 3 cinemas on my cMP

which nMP config do you have? looks like the higher end nMP has D500 AMD, apart from speed does it allow more displays to be hooked up?
