Didn't realize you get screwed by doing it OTA... I won't now in the future. But does this screw me? Or nothing major since it was a smaller release? HOPING!!!
No, the jailbreak is going to take at least another three months. iOS 8 has to mature a bit first, and the new iPads have to be in people's hands. Don't worry too much about it and continue to update your device.
Its no big deal, you can always restore your phone via itunes for the "restore upgrade" in a sense. Because no JB is out yet, it cannot be clarified one way or another. But in the past, youd have to upgrade via iTunes for the JB to work properly. Either way, its not like youre doomed, even if you do an OTA upgrade, you can always do a restore via iTunes to resolve this if required by the JB.
I honestly did not know that it was better to update through itunes for a jailbreak. I updated my 5s OTA to 7.1.2 then jailbroke using pangu a few weeks ago and everything has been fine. In the future I will never update OTA again.
