Despite some of the bad press that Apple has been getting lately, they still do have the BEST customer support system.

It's not uncommon to hear of people exchanging their new iPhones once, or even twice due to aesthetic or manufacturing flaws ranging from a misplaced speck of dust to a misaligned screen.

What are the effects of all these used phones returning back upstream to Apple? Is it something that the company expects and has budgeted for? Or does it end up biting the consumer in the tail when Apple is forced to raise prices or cut quality in order to offset the cost of keeping their customers 100% happy?

The returned iPhones become warranty replacement units after the issues are fixed. Apple incurs a cost, but they don't throw the phone away.
