Thunderbolt ethernet not working on Bootcamp

Just received a new ethernet cable and thunderbolt to ethernet adapter for my MBP. Works fine on OS X but doesn't want to work on Windows. Any ideas on how I could resolve this?

go to windows device manager and check if the ethernet device is there and if a working driver is installed. start troubleshooting from there.

Is the adapter connected to your computer when your first power up? Hot plugging of Thunderbolt devices is not supported by Boot Camp.
