Hello,

I'm using a Mac Pro 5.1 with ML 10.8.5.I'm looking for a solution to run 3-4
Gtx titans externally.I lean towards a Cubix Xpander with MacVidCards.
My main concern is,does it work at all.
i would use it mainly for Octane Renderer with C4D.
it would be nice if any pros could give me some information about this.

i have read a couple of threads here where Mavericks has some issues with
Cubix-titans combination.

I don't really have to switch to a PC,do i?

Hi,

is there any limitation of how many GPUs you can use externally with OSX?
Thank you

If you're running 10.8.5 then I think there's no GPU limit, which is why a lot of the colorists over in the Lift Gamma Gain Forum are stuck in that OSX. But if you are in 10.9 or 10.10 there's a 1 GUI + 2 GPU limit, ie. you can have only three cards recognized by OSX. And apparently a Red Rocket card counts at a graphics card in this respect.

I'm basically quoting information that I found at the LGG Forum under the Hardware subforum CPU & GPU. I'd recommend poking around there for more info.

Hello,

i'm running now a GTX Titan installed inside of the Mac Pro.The card is powered internally with a special cable. This card doesn't need any external PSU.
Oh,and i'm running 3 others with an external GPU enclosure.:)
cheers
