Last Opened Date Incorrect

I recently noticed this problem.

I have a MBP Retina running OS X 10.8.5

I've noticed that the "Last Opened" date is incorrect.

For example.

I opened a file last week lets say 10-10-2014 but when I checked it today it said last opened on 05-04-2013. I don't understand what is going on.


Is there a "refresh" option I am not aware about or some setting to fix it?
