Once iOS 8.1 comes out today, can I go to a store tonight (besides an Apple store or anything Apple related, i.e. Itunes *thanks mhdena*) and be able to pay for something with it? Or will companies not have the "Apple Pay" systems up and running until later?

It will work anywhere that has NFC so long as you have a card from a participating bank.

Any company that takes NFC payments will take ApplePay, so yes, you should be able to use it at a vending machine if it takes NFC payments.

The vending machines in the break room at my night job all have NFC terminals. That's going to be my first test of Apple Pay tonight.

Well guys, if you manage to get something out of the vending machines let me know. That would be the thing that makes me more excited about Apple Pay, as I never have change on me lol.
