Just sharing my upgrade, I know OWC released some information but it was on a 15" rMBP and questions lingered on compatibility with the 13", which is what mine is. A mid 2014 13" rMBP
The original benchmark with the 128 GB SanDisk SSD.
The new 1 TB Samsung SSD that is an option in Mac Pro
Notice the link width (PCIe lanes) is now x4 instead of the old x2)
And here is some eye candy.
Samsung 1 TB on top - made in Korea
SanDisk 128 GB on bottom - made in China
The original 128 GB SanDisk
The new 1 TB Samsung. Notice the tight fitment towards the top to as compared with the original.

And another interesting find, an unpopulated connector of another size on the new Samsung 1 TB SSD.
And a brief history of proprietary Apple M.2 SSDs
Top to Bottom
iMac 2012 - Samsung 128 GB
MBA 2012 - Samsung 128 GB
rMBP 2014 - SanDisk 128 GB
Mac Pro 2014 - Samsung 1 TB
