Hi guys,
Soon to be new Mac user coming from a long time PC user.
Wondering what Apps to get for the iMac Retina.
Any recommendations?
THANKS!
It really depends on what it is that you're planning to use your computer for. I could recommend Xcode, but if you don't write software, then it's pretty pointless.
I'd still recommend it! Playgrounds are amazing to learn Swift and programming!
Agreed, but it's not everybody's cup of tea, or idea of fun

Surely as I stated, I'm new to Mac so I assumed one would know to recommend general use, productivity and utility apps.
But if I ever get into programming, your post is well noted.
Anyone else have suggestions?

Adium (if you use AIM, FB Chat or Gchat)
Transmission if you torrent
I'll try to think of more!

BetterSnapTool will be a great one for you coming from windows so that you can snap windows to the left, top, right, bottom like you would in Windows.
Ahh, excellent!

It's a pity I can't go snoop around the Mac store until I get a Mac.
It would be a nice feature for newbies but oh well.
Oh, there ya go!
AWESOME!
THANKS!
I never knew this existed... thanks seb!

This is a great list, the only real additions I would add to this is OmniFocus and Path Finder.
I actually use Path Finder and enjoy it, but ever since we got tabs in Finder and the ability to move files with a short cut, I find myself using it a lot less, so I left it out.
Omnifocus seems really nice, but I felt it was overpriced. I think the price has been reduced since the last time I looked though.
