I'm going to buy the iPad Mini 2 (iPad with Retinal Display), and am looking for a case that would be easy to use while holding the Mini both in landscape and portrait.

Most of the reviews I have looked at put the iPad in the case and then sit it on a desk. Sitting on a desk is helplful, but most of the time I'm going to use the mini, I think it will be in my hand holding it up to my face.

Is their a case that the cover is not just dangling off the back while being held, but is designed to fold back and attached on the back and have some sort of grip / tab / anything to help hold the iPad?

I've looked at a lot of cases and reviews, and it seems manufacturers have ignored that the Mini is device that is used in the hand as well as sitting on a desk.
