Will the Mac Mini wake on demand, so that I can stream from my iTunes to my Apple TV? Then will it sleep after a period of use?

I want to do this way as iTunes is incredibly slow when downloading content if it is stored on the NAS.

Yes, any Mac running Lion or later can wake on LAN access; I have my own Mini configured accordingly. There may be a delay when you first access it after it's been in sleep mode, at least, that's what I've noticed.

I am on a windows machine at work, but you need to go to preferences and into energy savings. There you can select wake for LAN request and whether to put drives to sleep when possible. If you uncheck the put drives to sleep the response via LAN will be a lot better, in my experience. Hope this helps
