Thanks for the info. I hate GC, just give me my damn discount and i'll leave happy. Oh well, here's hoping BB drops the price instead of countering with their own GC's.

Btw a Mini 2 for $199, rox. I would be all over that

I wonder if these stores have agreements with Apple that stipulate that they won't price the iPad below the agreed upon price? So the only way around it is to offer a gift card. Or pay the sales tax.

I'm looking forward to getting an iPad Air 2 that weekend. Although, I'm not willing to go in the early morning hours when it's crazy. I prefer the cyber online deals.

True, but you do realize Target is eating these mark downs. Apple isn't discounting anything.

Target would prefer you spend the money it is losing 100% at their store.
I have no problem with that.

To me the Mini 2 is the Best deal from Target.

$299 plus 6% tax(me)= $316

Use $100 gift card on ITunes cards at buy 1 get 1 30% off

So $316 out of pocket = Mini 2 and $115 in ITunes cards.

I have no problem with that except Target both deals on the Mini, one with a GC and the other was $100 off the Mini. If they were consistent I would go the route of the previous poster and buy 2 iTunes $50 GC cards.

I'm waiting for the Black Friday sale to buy the Air2, hopefully Canadian stores have some good deals too. I wouldn't mind a giftcard, as long as it covers the cost of the Smart Case :D

They do GC's instead of discounting because of two reasons:

1) Best Buy or you Credit Card company won't pricematch a gift card.

2) Target Gift Cards can only be spent at Target

Their intent is to get you in store so that's fair. But the loophole has been to use a best buy/target/GameStop GC to buy Amazon Kindle cards or a hundred dollars of Chipotle cards.

The Target deals are pretty sweet. Target GC might as well be cash for our family. I actually will probably have to return some iPads I got last week at Best Buy because of these deals.

Stores aren't stupid. They aren't going to discount a brand new Apple product $140 off retail price.

Target is eating a lot of the cost. Their reasoning is sound. They will take around a $100 loss of the iPad Air 2 (assuming apple generally gives retailer around a 10% shelf discount to carry their products). . But their internal stats tell them the $100 gift card they give you. Most of their customers will end up spending 10x that amount over the year. They will recapture the $100 loss soon.

Target doesn't want you slickdealers who will buy and run and never come back to buy anything in their stores if they sell it for $140 straight cash off the retail price

----------

Actually makes the ipad mini 3 worth looking at

No it doesn't. The value is still in iPad mini 2 since they aren't he same exact specs. Heck. The Touch ID doesn't even have a functioning NFC chip (for Apple pay).

I rarely buy at Target so that would definitely apply to me. I would just use the GC on maybe some iTunes/Amazon/video games and be done.

Can't you buy one iDevice, get the gift card which you'll use to apply towards the purchase of a second iDevice then return the first iDevice with second gift card?

Sure, you can do that, but when you return the first one they'll subtract the amount of the gift card you received from the refund they give you.

The Target gift card is as good as cash for me. Unlike a Best Buy gift card, I may not need another gadget, but I still gotta eat! :)

Am I wrong or are the Xbox and Apple iPads available via online order on Black Friday? If I can take advantage of these deals without actually going into the store except to pick it up, I might just do this.

Wonder if they'll still offer $50 for trading in an old iPad for purchase of a new one?

Also, I wonder how much they'll offer for iPad trade ins? If it's close to what they're currently offering, then this combination (iPad trade in value, $50 trade in coupon, PLUS $100 off Air2) is truly an unbeatable deal.

Maybe I should've waited to trade in my Air1 for the Air2:rolleyes:

I don't see why they would do this when you're returning the first ipad with a gift card, unless they track the gift cards/print the # on the receipt. Because what happens if you only purchase 1 ipad and decide to return it? You have to keep the gift card no matter what?

Buy one ipad 1 with gift card 1, buy 2nd ipad with gift card 1 and receive gift card 2, return ipad 1 with gift card 2
