Looking for suggestions as to whether or not 3rd party cables are recommended for use with the iPad Air 2? I need a few extra cables (to be used with Iphone 6 Plus also) and would like to avoid paying what Apple charges if 3rd party cables will not harm my devices. Thanks!

Is there a chance non Apple cables could damage a device?

It won't damage the device but if nots guaranteed to work.

I recommend these lightning cables:

[Apple MFI Certified] AYL 8-Pin Lightning to USB Cable (6 Feet / 1... http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IX2VGFA/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_YuDAub0YFZ12W
Or get the 3ft version

Pawtec Premium Lightning to USB Charge and Sync Cable Apple MFi Cer... http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KAF9IQW/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_GwDAub10JMSR6

[Apple MFI Certified] Cambond Lightning Cable 3.3Ft 8-pin USB SYNC ... http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LBUI4K6/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_2wDAub1KNZD0E

WinnerGear KOOL Certified Cable Lightning Cable Apple MFi Braided N... http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MDFRYG8/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_hxDAub0AC0V3Z

I also have this which may be worth getting
[Apple MFi Certified] iOrange-E™ 3 Pack of Lightning to USB C... http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00O05TNOU/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_PxDAub1W0TNT8

I own all these cables listed... If you have any questions I can help answer. I personally like the pawtec cables because of the braided cable that come in different color options.

I have a 2m Belkin Lightning lead and that's really good quality, seems made tougher than the Apple lead.
