Hey guys, I have a macbook pro, 13 inch, non retina. It's late 2011 and I've been having issues with it ever since.

I got the flashing folder and question mark, I took the hard drive out and put it in an external enclosure, it was working until a couple hours ago it won't recognize the hard drive anymore. I had to get on to a school computer to type this up and hopefully it's just the enclosure. I have a new ribbon on the way but it's not going to be here for another month. Any advice on what to do?

It's quite easy to damage the hard drive ribbon cable in these machines, I would start by looking at that first. If need be take it into your nearest service provider and ask them to replace it for you. Otherwise order one yourself and try your luck.

I'm 99% certain this will fix your issues.
