AirPlay from MBP to AVR

Just wondering if its possible to AirPlay from my MBP to my AirPlay equipped AVR? I can do it from my iPhone without a problem. I do have an Apple TV, but it would be nice to be able to just turn on the AVR and store music right to that rather than going through the TV.

if you alt-click the volume icon in the menu bar, you'll see your airplay devices as options for sound outputs.

another option (although not free) is airfoil, which lets you pick one program to send audio from, which prevents system sounds like new mail or auto-play stuff in web browsers from making it to your big speakers.
