In the game I'm writing, I have it try to log into Gamecenter the very first thing.
But, it's possible for someone to be logged OUT of gamecenter, start up the app, and get a game started, before the gamecenter login pops up.
The problem is, the gamecenter login popup covers the actual game, and since the game is a timed affair, it's pretty much blown the current game for the user.
So I'm guessing there's some kind of function I need to write, that detects the gamecenter popup, and pauses the game? Does that sound familiar to anyone? I haven't seen anything in the docs about that yet, but I'm still searching ...
