Hello everyone!

I have a question! :) I saw on ebay that some sellers offer original ssd drives for the mac pro 2013, the current retina MacBooks and the current macbook air - it always states that the ssd is an apple product (probably taken of a used macbook ) and compatible with the named devices.. and thats the reason i got the following idea:

I'm able to get my hands on a cheap 128gb current gen model of a 13" retina but want more space. I still have a 256gb ssd inside my current mb air (current gen) - can i just swap both for each other?

thanks in advance!

In theory it should work. Only the 1 TB SSD is slightly larger physically than the other capacities, but the rest are apparently the same size. You might lose your warranty (or might not I don't know) but there is nothing that prevents the swap. It makes sense that apple doesn't have a ton of different sizes.

Hope it works out for you.
