I am very new to this and was very disappointed to find out that after spending hours downloading some of my favourite tracks, then burning onto a disc I was unable to play the disc in my CD Player, the disc only plays in my PC and in my DVD Player. Can someone tell me where I'm going wrong?
You must pardon my ignorance about this kind of thing.

Most likely you have itunes set up to burn the music files instead of converting to CD audio. Go to: Itunes menu -> prefs -> advanced -> burning and make sure all the settings are to your liking. You'll want to be selecting Audio CD.

some cd and dvd players will also play "mp3 cds" (the other option under burning prefs) which will allow you to fit a lot more tracks onto a disc (but iTunes will only burn tracks that are already mp3s - if you've imported them in AAC format they won't be burned)
