Cellular service in Iran

Going to travel to northern Iran on business and looking to pick up a phone here in the U.S before I leave. Someone told me to try Sprint. Any recommendations?

If you're looking for roaming I'd guess that the US sanctions keep any US carriers from roaming there, if you're looking for an unlocked one to use with a local sim just go and buy an unlocked one from the Apple store.

Thanks I will check the Apple Store for a phone and international sim card. It's difficult finding any information on cell service in Iran to begin with. The 64,000 dollar question is whether or not I will have coverage in the area I'm going to be in.
