I don't really watch DVD's over and over and over and over, but I have been getting strange urges today to watch Sideways over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.

  • About a Boy. Such a fun movie, and an incredible soundtrack (and yes, I listen to it over and over and over and over again).
  • The Little Mermaid.
  • The Sound of Music.
  • Sabrina. The one w/ Audrey Hepburn.

Over and over and over?

Any DVD I've just bought that doesn't suck.

The Princess Bride

Ocean's Eleven (Clooney/Pitt/etc)
The Big Lebowski
Office Space

A few more obvious choices (Matrix, LOTR, etc).

Edit: Just read "Coupling, the real version" and I'd like to second that one, fantastic stuff.

Comedy, mostly...

Airplane!
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
O Brother, Where Art Thou?
Ocean's Eleven
Office Space
Scarface
Sleeper
Snatch
Spaceballs
The Jerk
Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory
Young Frankenstein

Well actually the only one out of place on that list is Scarface... Pacino is too great!

The funny thing is that I always thought that the Buffy/Angel crowd was strange and figured that Wheadon was the master-loser. I still don't like those two, but Firefly....at least one disc is always in our 5 disc changer.

One thing that Rodriguez and Wheadon do have in common is that they like to have complete control over everything and can take any budget and stretch it like no tomorrow.

I'd have to say my Family Guy DVD's and Good Will Hunting. I just got the Bourne Identity and Supremacy and I think I'll probably see those a few more times in the new future. If someone puts a movie in I can sit and watch it no matter how many times I've seen it, even if I thought it was a bad movie.

I'm not one to watch the same DVDs over and over, but my wife sure is. She has a "core" set of chick flicks (including While You Were Sleeping; Two Weeks' Notice; Father of the Bride; You've Got Mail; The Wedding Planner) that she's watched literally dozens of times.

There are a couple of standards, of course - Princess Bride, Empire Records, Real Genius.

I'd watch Requiem for a Dream more often except it's too painful.

Lately I've been on a Super Size Me kick, though. I'm actually really surprised that I haven't gotten bored of that movie. It's been interesting and engaging every time I've seen it.

For as many DVD's as I own you'd think I'd watch them multiple times... hrmmmm.... there are a few that I've watched more than once but... do you people seriously watch the same movie once a month even? Not knocking it but just wondering if I understand the question...

I can see watching a certain Christmas movie once a year as tradition or maybe the movie that you and your spouse/significant other first saw together. I mean... there are certain movies that I like (Big Fish comes to mind) but I can't see myself watching it monthly... but maybe my problem is that I buy too many DVD's so there always seems to be something new to choose from? Right now I have 198 movies in Delicious Library which includes also TV series (24, BSG, Complete Buffy, ER, Friends, Scrubs; to name a few) and also some box sets (Indiana Jones trilogy, Original Pink Panther (all 5), Back to the Future trilogy) and things like that... but I never really think to watch them over and over and over... I've watched Black Hawk Down, Big Fish, The Rock, Interview with a Vampire, Lord of the Rings, etc, etc a few times each but watch them over and over and over? Maybe I'm too picky in terminology...

There are even a few that I would place at the top of my list (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind for one) but I've only watched that one once!
