Hi. My daughter's iPhone (5, on 8.1.3) has almost no storage left, only several hundred mb's. According to the settings usage indicator, the photos app contains almost 2gb of "stuff". The phone only has 5 photos and no videos. Is there any way to reclaim this lost storage besides restoring the phone? I'd rather not do that since she has a lot of game data that she doesn't want to lose. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem. From what I've read some of the photos are tallied from iMessage, text messages, and some that were deleted but are still on there. What you can do is plug the phone up and try to delete them manually. If you are on a Mac open Image Capture. Transfer and delete the images that you don't want.
