Is it necessary to charge a new Powerbook 17 battery for 12 hours?

I read on a website that it is necessary to charge a new PowerBook battery for *12* hours steady to ensure longer life. Is this necessary?

I have read that lithium batteries don't have a 'memory' and don't need to be charged in any special way. I do realize that I will need to initially calibrate the battery with a full charge and full discharge.

Any thoughts?

That initial calibration you were talking about should be fine. It shouldn't take twelve hours and it doesn't need twelve hours.
Some things are better mad...
