I have a setup in my car that includes an iphone holder and an AUX in. Since I didnt want to run the aux in with the headphones as it created a buzz, I decided to get a lightning dock and an extension cable. Works great!
Except it charges pretty slowly.
Im wondering since Ive read that if you plug the iphone in with the USB connection enabled, it wont charge as fast (500ma charge?). Mine charges about 10 percent in about 15 minutes. If I plug it directly into a 5V 2.1A charger, it adds 10 percent charge (60-70% on both tests) in about 9-10 min.
Trying to figure out how to charge it as I use it for GPS, and streaming music at the same time, and at times the charging rate just is barely enough to keep the battery even.

TL;DR: Will the apple lightning dock plugged into a 15W adapter supply the 2.1amps to the iphone to 'fast charge' it
