I currently own a 13" mid 2013 Macbook Air 1.3GHz i5 laptop. I only lightly game and play games such as Borderlands 2. It plays it decently but is in turbo boost mode the entire time.

How does my current laptop compare (gaming wise) to the new 2015 11" Macbook Air with an i7 with 2.2GHz?

Practically, the comparison is between intel HD 5000 vs intel HD 6000. Although the latter is far from being suitable for gaming, it is an improvement over the former. In particular, see here where each one stands (search the page for "hd 5000" and "hd 6000" respectively, to see the ranking of each one).

I'd expect the HD 6000 to perform a bit better for your current games, but don't expect any miracles from intel on that context - at least not yet.
