Ukrainian website Rozetka has compared the new 12-inch Retina MacBook to the 11-inch mid-2013 MacBook Air in a new video, providing a closer look at the physical design of the new MacBook and offering a side-by-side view of the different features between the notebooks. The video also highlights how the new MacBook, which measures 0.51" at its thickest point, is nearly as thin as the original iPad (0.50").

The video provides an in-depth look at the new MacBook's ultra-thin design, Retina display, redesigned keyboard, Force Touch trackpad, unlit Apple logo and more, interspersed with stock video footage and screenshots of the notebook from Apple. The fifteen-minute clip complements Vietnamese website Tinhte's unboxing photos and video of the new MacBook that surfaced last week.

Apple's 12-inch Retina MacBook will be available to purchase in silver, space gray and gold on April 10, the same day that Apple Watch pre-orders begin in the United States, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan and United Kingdom. The notebook starts at $1,299 for the base 256GB configuration, while a 512GB model with a slightly faster processor is available for $1,599.

That looks like quite a complete (initial) review and comparison. Didn't understand a word so she could have been talking about her pet cat for all I know, but the review looked fairly comprehensive.

It's actually in Russian.

Ukraine has both Russian and Ukrainian as its official languages.

I popped by at the Rozetka site and it's all in Russian, not Ukrainian (I'm a speaker of both languages).

EDIT: Looks like MR cleaned up the article and no longer says that the video is spoken in Ukrainian.

EDIT 2: Credits to someone else for pointing out an error I made, Ukrainian is the sole official language of the country. Russian, or any other minority language, has the status of a regional language in areas of Ukraine where the percentage of representatives of national minorities exceeds 10% of the total population of a defined administrative district, whereby it can be used in courts, schools and other government institutions.

Here
Can't wait to pick up a gold and a space gray one up Friday!

I've read threads that claim that the MacBook won't be available in stores on the 10th. I doubt it's true, but still may be a consideration.

----------

I can't wait to try the keyboard out in-store next week.

Hmm. Goes against what the Apple specialist told me. Hope the threads are wrong.

Both this and the Vietnamese video could not boot the Mac. Clearly these were taken from the assembly line before the OS was installed. Funny they didn't think to install the OS before making the video.

I'd love to have one, but I'm not sure if I could ever bring myself to buy one. Maybe when the speed inevitably increases. I'd prefer an iPad Pro for doing intermediate tasks on the go, combined with the 5K iMac for higher-end tasks. Right now I only have a rMBP, (well I have an iMac at work but yeah not my own), but I find myself only needing the actual portability of a laptop maybe 15% of the time, the other time I could use a desktop 60% and an iPad 25%. Would be nice to combine the MacBook and iPad for intermediate use. I like the form factor of the iPad for kicking back and doing some photo editing and drawing.

This new MacBook looks amazing. Apple is so smart to keep the tablet and laptop form factors separate.

Keep the laptop a laptop, just make it impossibly thin and light :)

*Sigh* you made me log in (which I haven't done in years, just to correct you). Ukraine has only one official language-Ukrainian. But yes, the video is in Russian.

Either way, while the new MacBook looks amazing, I feel like you'll get a better deal purchasing the 13" MacBook Air instead.

That's exactly a complete review. We got all tests from CPU, measured screen parameters and temperature. You can see all results in this video. But unfortunately MacBook died after Mac OS X 10.10.3 had been installed (it come with 10.10.2). So, we had to capture a review without turning it on.

I see where you are going, but I am not sure. My wife has the Mac Air and I have the ipad and an iMac. I recently got her a ipad air 2 with a keyboard clam case. She is now using that more than the Mac Air. As the two get close to the same size and weight, there are only two major differences (from a user perspective)

1. Touch screen
2. OS ability to show multiple "windows" on the screen

I would prefer for Apple to make their own keyboard cover for the ipad, but there are enough out there that I don't think this is that big of a deal anymore (I used to).

I suspect that when #2 gets resolved on the ipad, I will go with that over the laptop. However, if they add touchscreen to the laptop and the keyboard is better than the third party one available on the ipad, i might go the other way.

Bottom line is that I do believe these form factors are too close and that apple needs to pick one and go (my vote currently is the iPad).

Multiple times. Can't contain my excitement. ;)

Same here, was desperately waiting to replace my Air with a redesigned device after 5 years or so. But surely I also expected a speed bump compared to my old one...so now I'm waiting for the maxed-out benchmarks as I was somehow diappointed by the numbers leaked last week.
