Hi all,

I'm looking to upgrade my 5770 in my MP. I was looking at the 750 Ti for its low power consumption and low temperatures.

But I'd like to stay on mavericks.

Any similar cards to the 750 Ti, that is able to run on mavericks? As I understand it, maxwell GPUs can only run using 10.10 onwards?

Thanks! I see that it requires 2 6 pin connectors. Are there any cards that don't require any power from pins and are functional with the power from the PCIe slot alone?

I was thinking the GT 740 SuperClocked 2GB. Would that card be better than the 5770 and work with mavs?

I've got a 740 here somewhere, been meaning to write an EFI for it.

In any case, it's a "badge engineered" 640, question is really if the device id is included in Mave drivers. I'll let you know here.

But we do offer a variety of 640s, from 1GB to 4GB and with 4K support (no boot screen in 4K though). Some have 2 @ DVI and an HDMI while a couple have DP port that can work with Apple mDP displays.

Nice cards, no power cords, but not as quick as a 750.

Went ahead and bought a gt 740 Superclocked 2GB. It works and boots :). But in the about mac section it only sees is it as a "NVIDIA Chip Model 2048 MB"

To be clear, the GeForce GT 740 does not require any power from the computer? If so, I could upgrade my 3,1 to this from the original video card.

740 = 640

same card, new name

from the research i did when getting my card yeah its basically a slightly improved 640 in fact the one i have looks very close to the EVGA 640 you had for sale (same cooler and video outs) i guess you could think of the 740 as a 645 if such a card existed? its a decent card from my testing on a xeon X3220 machine. I have been wondering if it can be flashed by you heh. I also wonder if a 740 would work in 10.7.5 since its a GK107 card? (I hear those have 10.7.5 support) here is a link to the card I own : http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00KO23Z0Q/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=tonymacx86-21
